Some of the worst service I have ever received. I walked in and sat down at the bar, I was greeting with a "what can I do for you." I kindly asked for a menu and an iced tea. I ordered the blackened chicken Caesar wrap minus tomato. After quite some time listening to whom I presume to be the manager have inappropriate conversations with her staff, she kindly asked me again if my order was taken. I said it had, at this point she started yelling at the two waiters asking who rang in my order and finally settled by asking me. I pointed to the kid and she was off to the kitchen. She stated my food was almost out and they were rolling my wrap now. She then appeared with my food, and asked my if I just didn't like tomato or if I was allergic. I responded that I just didn't like them and she said that was good because my food had come in contact with them. I thought that was weird. Bite one of my wrap equalled lettuce and a tomato. 5 tomatoes pulled from my wrap and not one word said, not even a casual apology. My iced tea was gone half way through my meal and was never re-filled. I finished my meal overhearing another conversation about how an employee should just take a 2 hour break and clock back in right at 10 to appear they were there all night. I finally interrupted and asked for my check. Terrible.

Fine for Football games or an afternoon beer. The food is what you'd expect from a divey sports bar - I have only had a few bites of the chicken and chips but I get the general idea that they aren't trying to be a fine dining establishment. Which is fine, because it's not. The service is good and the two times I have visited the waitstaff has been friendly. The could spruce up the place a bit - the decor and carpet are kind of dingy and dated and the deck is just a deck. But to have a beer or two, it is a-ok.

Visiting town, I stopped in for dinner. The smoked chicken wings were great, a good reason alone to go there again. I ordered the Cobb salad, which tasted fresh with a good variety of vegetables along with the turkey, bacon, and avocado. Recommend the honey lime dressing.

Great place. The service was awesome, and the beer was cold. I met lots of friendly locals. The wings could be hotter, even the level the call something like "ass burn" or something like that. The salad was great!

Great establishment, however THE WORST SERVICE STAFF they've had in years. I'm giving this place an absence for a long while. Hopefully they clean their vinegar tasting beer tap lines by then. TRY SOMEWHERE ELSE

My favorite bar. The owner has since removed employees like the one described below and has updated their menu. But a couple of years ago, i had a bad experience. The smoked wings are the best in town.

Dog friendly patio. Serious barbecue. Good fish sandwiches. Perfect place for a badly needed stop after leaving Yellowstone. Dog water on the patio deck, icy people water at the umbrella tables. Quite a menu for meat eaters. I'd been seeing menus with game like elk, venison, salmon and trout, and the ubiquitous Bison, but only the Frosty Gator has alligator. Alligator but no alligator wrestling. Would have stayed longer for that. The Cajun chips should be bagged and sold at the register. I was happy I saved most of mine for a snack the next day. Feeling contrary, I ordered fish instead of meat. Can you imagine doing this at a barbecue? If you do it, order the salmon burger. I was very happy I did. My table mates were not about to let me be the only rebel. An order of salmon tacos and one for cod tacos went in. Both diners were happy that the fish was grilled and flavorful. Each received three tacos and reported being quite stuffed, what with the fries and chips. The ice water and an iced tea ended up in water bottles in the van, along with the extra Cajun chips. In that way, we were able to take a little Gator down the road.

The Frosty Gator is iconic to downtown Idaho Falls in that it is a staple of weekend nightlife, a venue that hosts small concerts, centrally located to the must-see locations of the city, and provides a variety of dining and alcohol selections that is a notch above other locally owned establishments. A classic sports bar atmosphere is upheld by several televisions, trivia on certain nights, a pool table, arcade games, and a dog-friendly deck on which to eat during the nicer months of the year. The food, service, and staff have transitioned over the course of months and years to struggle through mediocre and stellar offerings. What the latest performances and kitchen yields appear and taste to be are vastly improved. However, service is vulnerable to old habits under the strain of predictable events that draw large crowds such as Alive After Five and football season. The Buffalo Chicken Sandwich possesses a strong loyal following that includes my husband and his friends. At one time in the distant past, The Gator even served real gator tail -- it's off the menu now for unknown reasons. Other dishes that have been vetted include the Philly, steak fingers (extremely good), nachos, wings (the ass-in-the-tub sauce is not that impressive), and chicken tenders. The Gator keeps us coming back because we know there's always something going on here, it's reasonable priced, the food is pretty damn good for bar food, and a local place beats a chain any day.

I couldn't force myself to eat at the Frosty Gator. I don't know what to say about the food bc I haven't really given it a chance. I That is bc the place is filthy with the kitchen being the worst. An inch of grease all over everything so I can't imagine the food tasting like anything but that dirty grease. Cooks are unkempt, greasy. Don't eat there ..pretty good chance of getting real sick !!

Just an OK dive bar, with the traditional sticky floors, pool table, and video games in the corner. It's not a great corner spot, but not much to look at in downtown Idaho Falls. In terms of entertainment factor, this would be a good place to go. Drinks are good and keep flowing. Game related entertainment works well, and the bar staff are able to fix it if it doesn't. Not sure about food, but for a late night stop, you could do worse.

Absolutely love their mushrooms they are so good. The staff is always welcoming. I come here at least once a week. Bloody Mary's are always perfect. Haven't ordered anything that isn't tasty. Sundays is happy hour all day.

This is a great place to just hang out. Bar staff is excellent and the food ain't too bad, either. I know I know - "dive bar"... Travelling as much as I do, I've learned to appreciate walking into a place and not feeling like a stranger. Don't be scared. hahaha

So much better since they cleaned up the place. I have always loved the food and they have a great beer on tap selection. Ass in the tub wings are a fav but super hot. I love their warps and on Thursday's their chicken asparagus soup is absolutely delicious.

We all have places we like to go in our home town. You know, the places where you hope everyone still knows your name? And they're glad you came? Well this isn't one of those places, but I find myself coming here every time I'm in town because there's just something about it. Apparently they had some issues with their beer lines, but those issues have been resolved, and the beer was tasty. Moving on to my main point: the smoked wings. I think the smoker on the side of the parking lot is somewhat new, this was the first time I noticed it there, and instantly knew I'd be enjoying some smoked meat - right in my mouth. Went with the wings, because they've always been consistent, and despite having wings all over the country (and even a couple places outside the country) these were just delish. Truly in my top five wings ever, and anyone in Idaho should stop and get some because they're that good. The trivia / poker is a fun distraction but the help is consistently average - otherwise the wings alone would be worth the full five stars. The only other feedback I have is how horrid the bathroom situation is there, might be time to upgrade. A bar that big only having a "one at a time" bathroom for boys and girls is a major fail, and I don't think I've seen it "clean".

The food is alright. The atmosphere leaves a lot to be desired. It feels as though there really is no design or organization...It's hip and alternative but it's laid back and smooth but then it's outdoorsy and adventurous...It's just too confusing. I love coming in and getting some fries, and a fresh veggie tray. The service is alright. Nothing to write home about. Eh...overall...it's just...Eh.

Came here on a weeknight when in town on business, it indeed seemed to have a pretty good crowd for a tuesday.. This is to some degree a dive bar, kind of feels like a college bar but there is no big university in Idaho Falls. This is definitely more of a bar than a restaurant, but the food menu does have quite a few things more interesting and tasty than what is found amongst typical bar food.. Still leaning towards greasy or fried stuff, as is the tendency with bars, but there are some surprises . Seems like a good place to hang out in a fairly conservative town that seems to be a bit light on nightlife options..

I was in Idaho Falls for 2 weeks. After a long day of working I felt like going to a dive bar to get a sandwich and beer. I looked up this place and with positive reviews thought I would try it out. When I walked into the place it fit the 'dive bar' feel. Not super nice, but not dirty or gross either. I sat at the bar, but they have tables as well as outdoor seating in the summer. It took awhile for the bartender to get my drink order but he was friendly. They had a nice selection of local brews on tap. I looked at the menu and they had an assortment of normal bar food as well as some interesting choices. I ended up getting the cranberry turkey sandwich. It sounded interesting and I thought I would give it a try. While waiting for the food I noticed they had trivia and poker on those video things that Buffalo Wild Wings has, as well as TVs all over the place. Good way to pass the time if your traveling alone. Food came out in a reasonable time. The sandwich was OK, but nothing great. It was an interesting taste, but at the time I wished I had ordered something else. The fries came out crispy and delicious. I ate all my fries and only half the sandwich. They take cash and all major credit cards. My meal cost ~$12. After finishing my drink and meal I left the bar. Later that night (2 am in the morning) I ended up getting food poisoning which lasted for nearly 24 hours. I can't be positive it came from this place, but I'm pretty sure it was either the sandwich or fry sauce which did me in. Needless to say I was not a happy camper. I think this place is better to just grab a beer and skip the food, but even as a bar it wasn't all that impressive.

I ordered the fish and chips, which I thought had a really good flavor, but it was greasy. But I had a good enough experience that I might try it again and order something different.

I don't know what happened but this place has gone down hill. Use to be one of my favorite places to hang. Been coming here for 10 years. Now when I go in on an empty Saturday afternoon I can't seem to find one person that gives a fuck. The waiter was rude and obnoxious, our food was cold and greasy, our glasses and silver wear were dirty. The only good thing was the selection of beer. The straw that broke the camels back was the obnoxious amount of fly that were swarming our food. I asked for a comment card because I wanted to let the owner or manger know. The waiter said they already knew and sprayed in the morning for them. Well maybe they need to know its not Fucking working. I'm trying to tell you its god damn disgusting and what ever measures you are using agent working. So don't argue with me. Try to find a way to fix it dip shit. Jesus, I guess it true when they say every dog has its day. The Frosty Gator need to be put down. It's a shambles of it former glory. I'll reminisce about the past but I will never come here again.

The Gator has sadly gone WAY downhill. The owner refused to call us a cab. I have been overcharged on numerous occasions. The air conditioning is usually broken. I have refused to ever return until it changes ownership.

The Frosty Gator is my favorite hangout in Idaho Falls. Idaho Falls is a pretty conservative community and there aren't many places where you can count on a weeknight crowd. The Gator serves up a pretty good variety of beer and surprisingly good food at dirt-cheap prices. The Gator has lots of different beers, with a bias toward NW brews. It is one of the few places that I am able to get Rolling Rock reliably. The pitchers have frozen inserts, so the beer is always cold. Food is better than standard fried bar fare. I had a really great prime rib dinner with fresh green beans and LOTS of bacon. The mashed potatoes are actually made from fresh produce and they rarely mess up on the order. It can take a while if they are hopping, but the place is fun enough that you won't notice. Hot wings are pretty good and the potato skins will choke even the largest NFL lineman. The decor is frat-house basement in nature, down to the colorful commentary on the bathroom wall. Everything works and there isn't any obvious filth or dirt to be found . The furniture doesn't match, so feel free to leave a note with a sharpie. Lots of neon and beer posters are lining the walls. NTN trivia brings a very dedicated and strong players. If you play trivia, bring your a-game. They usually run Texas Hold-Em simultaneously. There are not less than 15 televisions in the joint. Lots of flatscreens and a well-worn rear projection. Sports dominate, but they are pretty flexible and will let you choose your own poison. A few arcade games - including Golden Tee and hunting - occupy the area around the pool table along with a pinball machine. It's hard to put a finger on the crowd. Families eat dinner there as kids are welcome until 8:30 or so. Most of the time there will be a blend of ages and vocations. No drama or intrigue just a lot of people talking and laughing. They used to allow smoking inside, but it seems to be relegated to the patio. If you are passing through Idaho Falls, bring a coat from September until June. That place gets VERY cold outside and 15 mph is a breeze to them. I never miss a chance to hit the Gator when I am in town and have yet to find somebody who went with me that didn't like it. The only reason I wouldn't give it 5 stars is because I think they could clean the taps more. If you get hangovers from tap beer but do fine on bottles, the source could be skanky taps. If you get hangovers from both, drink less than 10 and see if it helps. The gator will be there when you recover.

Passing through the area with a big group of friends on a motorcycle trip. We ended up eating and having a few brews at the Frosty Gator. The food was definitely above average bar food and the service was great. We will definitely stop back through here for drinks again.
